I took a little trip to a local produce market trying to get a heads-up on my experiment. This is what I found. I also located a couple u-pick farms close by. I hope to go to one of them sometime next week.
Mmmmmm! I'm so in the mood for some garlic green beans and boiled white potatoes right now! Under normal circumstances apples would be a welcome addition but I just came off of a 7 day juice fast, I'll pass on the fruits for a minute :)
You can't beat the taste of organic produce. Other forced foods taste so bland in comparison. WTG on your experiment - buying local organic, and supporting small producers is first class.
Good for you! Have you ever looked into a CSA (community supported agriculture). It's like we subscribe to the farm and get a weekly share of the bounty. It's amazing to eat something that came out of the ground 1 or 2 days ago. Can you tell I'm a city gal??
I hadn't thought of a CSA. I will definitely look into that. I live in a subdivision surrounded by farm country so it shouldn't be too hard to find one. Thanks for the tip. I like so many different fruits and vegetables. The task will be to get my family to try new things.
Local food is awesome. :) We've got a great farmer's market here as well as a lot of local farmers selling grassfed beef and such. Kinda like living in paradise, 'cept for the mosquitos...

The other cool thing about CSAs is that it forces you to try foods you never would have thought of purchasing on your own.
I haven't joined one yet, but one of these days!
It's so great that you can find local produce vegetables! These look so healthy and yummie!
