My Earliest Memory Of Scent

This is a discussion that came about with several acquaintances on a forum I belong to. My earliest memories are of food scents; vanilla, cinnamon, clove. Of the three, clove is still near the top of my most liked list, with vanilla and cinnamon fluctuating from top to bottom, depending on my mood. But what really stands out in my mind is not of my earliest memory but of one I recall from my adolescent years that I'd like to share.

Many (many lol) years ago during the Christmas season my mom would take my sister and me to Hudson's department store in downtown Detroit. At that time of year one of the upper floors was set up as a little shop for children only to do their Christmas shopping. The parents would give their children money to buy gifts (more like trinkets) then wait outside this set up until the children finished shopping. This one particular year I bought my grandmother a green apple cologne. When I purchased it I thought it was the best scent on Earth. I was a kid, what did I know. I still laugh about it to this day. It was green in color and in an apple shaped atomizer. Grandmothers are sweet. They don't always tell you when you've given them shit they'd never ever use. When I gave it to her on Christmas she smiled brightly, gave me a hug and said "Thank you." I was so proud of myself. It never dawned on me that years later that bottle of cologne was still full, yet sitting proudly on my gram's dresser amongst her real cologne.

After all, it was the thought right? ;-)

Awww but also it would have been the colour and the shape that attracted you, I bet if you had the chance to smell it you would have left it where it was. Its like making your own rose perfumes would you have every really worn those? The smell was so awful yet you still tried to make it

I bookmarked the template designer, I loved the look of yours so much that I made changes to my blog after seeing yours. I hope she makes another one as good as yours.
One of my earliest memories of scent was on my moms dresser there were lots of lovely bottles and when I wanted to smell good I would always like the ones she had in the back row. Not the ones that me and my sisters bought her. We bought drugstore scents, The ones in the back were her very expensive perfumes. She was not happy about me using those.

Groovey, I did smell it and loved it lol. Maybe it was in the children's area for a reason hahaha.

I'd love to see it when it's done. I found so many nice templates but I specifically wanted 3 columns, with sidebars on each side. There were several I liked but both sidebars were on the right.

I used to sneak and try my mom's perfumes also, but she wore some of the heaviest scents lol.
