There's an experiment I have been wanting to do: only shop locally for produce. I'd like to document the varitey of items I can get locally and how it affects my finances. I read about someone doing this months ago (sorry I don't recall the blog) and had planned on giving it a try myself. Well the time has finally come and I will begin this experiment on August 1 for one month. If anyone wants to join in on this I'd be more than happy to post your results as well.
More details to come...

Good luck!
We're part of a CSA, which makes it very easy to be a (mostly) local foodie.
Have you read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver?
No I haven't, but I'll look for it. Thanks!
What an excellent idea! I'm totally on board with this. I'll have to put a big reminder note on my fridge to bring my vegi bag with me :)
That's great, I try and buy locally whenever I can, but I'm not sure I could ONLY buy locally produced items - will be looking forward to hearing how it all goes! :)
I grow a LOT of my own food and preserve it. I've owned shares in local CSAs for several years. I attend, participate in and shop at farmers' markets all season.
Buy local! Yay!!!
That's great Walk In The Woods. I wish I had space to grow lots of my own food. At the moment I only have herbs & a single strawberry plant. I'm already planning for next year in order to maximise my space.
Great Idea as usual!!! How you can find it? HOpe to become so good one day!! Thanks for reading my blog!!...and for your sweet comments!
Love this idea! I travel so much for work and have no idea what's in the food I have to eat when I have no control...I was big on canning a few summers ago and need to get back into that.
What a great idea! If you're interested, I know that in the most recent issue of Bon Appetite they did a feature on Dorie Greenspan and how she cooks with only foods that she grows or can buy locally.
Good luck!
Really? Thank you. I'll see if I can get a copy today.
